A Mobile Canvas Activity Cart on Campus

A mobile canvas activity cart can bring supplies to different campus rooms, but the painting still needs a suitable place to happen. Treat the cart as a transport and distribution system. Do not assume a busy corridor or the top of a moving cart is a workable painting station.

Define the route and stopping places

Ask the campus contact which rooms or locations may host the activity, how supplies move between them and where the cart is stored. Check doors, access and the timing of other room uses. A route that is convenient when empty may be awkward once supplies and participants are present.

The college activity guide covers the wider program. The station guide helps prepare each approved stop.

Make a cart packing map

  • Dry stock: Canvases sorted by design, protected from wet materials.
  • Tools: Brushes and palettes kept in assigned containers.
  • Consumables: Suitable paint, towels and surface protection.
  • Information: The activity card, supply count and contact details.
  • Returns: Separate containers for used equipment, following material care and campus procedures.

Use a cart appropriate for its load and follow its instructions. Do not transport open rinse water or loose wet paintings with clean canvas stock.

Check a stop before opening

  1. Confirm the approved room and usable tables are available.
  2. Set out a complete sample station.
  3. Identify the refill, cleanup and artwork holding locations.
  4. Count prepared places and complete supplies.
  5. Explain when the activity ends and what happens to unfinished work.

Keep the cart parked where it does not obstruct movement. If the room is not ready, pause the activity rather than spilling the station into an unapproved adjacent area.

Use a departure-and-return count

Record canvases loaded, issued, returned unused and set aside because of damage or another problem. Count kits or separate paint and tools independently. For example, “twelve canvases loaded, eight issued, four returned unused” describes stock movement; it does not prove eight finished paintings.

Use the repeat-hosting guide to retain this information. A consistent packing map makes missing items easier to identify before the next stop.

Campus-cart questions

Can the cart be left unattended?

Follow campus rules and the supervision needs of the activity. A mobile supply system does not remove the need for a responsible organizer.

Can different stops use different outlines?

Yes, if stock and instructions are clearly separated. The mixed-design guide helps label choices and avoid assigning the wrong canvases to a location.
