Painting programs for libraries, museums and cultural organizations
For librarians, museum educators and program coordinators planning painting for patrons or visitors, from a family afternoon to an adult evening. This page covers program types, collection-inspired designs and the permissions they need, registration, room setup and take-home kits.
Business and group-order inquiries: b2b@canvaspaintparty.com.
Program types
| Program | Who comes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Family program | Children with parents or carers | Simple designs; adults paint alongside |
| Adult evening | Adult patrons or members | More detail; sometimes ticketed by a Friends group |
| Collection-inspired workshop | Visitors after a tour or exhibit | Design based on a work you have the right to reproduce |
| Take-home program | Patrons who collect a canvas and kit | Instructions you write; painted at home |
| Recurring series | Regulars over a season | Canvas-only restocking and a record of attendance |
Collection-inspired designs and permissions
A painting, map or object from your collection can make a strong design, but turning it into an outline is a reproduction. Check with whoever manages rights: public-domain works are usually simplest, while recent works and photographs often need permission. Once you have it, free design assistance can turn the image into an outline that paints well. One design per canvas; several designs can go in one order.
Registration and room capacity
Set a cap that fits your room with space between painters, take registrations, and keep a short waitlist for no-shows. Order against the registration count plus a few spares. Many free programs still need registration, simply to know how many canvases to set out.
Room setup
- Cover tables and, on carpet, the floor under them.
- Find the nearest sink and agree how brushes are rinsed.
- Keep paint away from collection items, books and display cases.
- Leave a table for drying, and time to reset the room.
Take-home canvases and kits
Some programs hand out a canvas and an optional kit for patrons to paint at home. What a kit contains; patrons supply water cups and table protection. Write a short instruction card, and say that easels are not needed: canvases paint well flat on a table.

What we do not claim
We do not imply that any library or museum is our customer or endorses our canvases, and we do not provide educators or program staff. A private room rental is the renter's event; this page is about programs your organization runs.
Questions librarians and educators ask
What should a program supply inquiry include?
Send canvas and optional kit quantities by program, preferred sizes, design references, the date needed and any purchasing paperwork requirements. Ask us to confirm current pricing and which order arrangements are available.
Can we use our purchasing process or grant funds?
If your organization needs particular purchasing paperwork or a specific way to pay, ask us before you order so it can be sorted out early.
Can you turn an artwork into an outline?
Yes, through free design assistance, if you have permission to use the image.
